Community Kids Network

Volunteering can be a fun and rewarding experience for both you and your children.  This is a win-win situation, as organizations will benefit from your generosity, and the opportunity will provide a life-long bonding experience.

How to be a Good Giver:

• Plan to participate with your child.  Community Kids Network matches parent/child teams with volunteer organizations.  These organizations are not places for children to be dropped off.  You will be required to stay with and supervise your children.  This is part of the wonderful bonding experience.

• Treat volunteering like a job.  You may not be getting paid, but your services are only as valuable as the effort extended.

• Provide notification if you are unable to attend.  Organizations understand you may have other obligations, illness, etc., but give as much notice as possible if you can't make your scheduled time.

• Don't over commit.  If you have a hectic schedule, volunteer for single day projects so commitments can be easily fulfilled.

Giving kids clothes and food is one thing but it's much more important to teach them that other people besides themselves are important, and that the best thing they can do with their lives is to use them in the service of other people. --Dolores Huerta
